Dear Cheer/Dance Prospect,
Wofford College is a small liberal arts institution located in Spartanburg, South Carolina. We are members of the Southern Conference and home to the NFL's Carolina Panthers Training Camp.
We have two cheer squads comprised of 12 young ladies that cheer for all Southern Conference football games as well as all home men's and women's basketball games. The Black Cheer squad travels to all away football contests. Also, the squads travel to the Southern Conference Basketball Tournament at the end of February. The Dance Team performs during select football and men’s & women’s basketball games. In addition to games, all three squads make community appearances throughout the year.
Try-outs are normally the end of March/first of April. All incoming freshmen as well as upperclassmen are invited to try-out for the 12 spots on each of the three squads. Try-outs begin Saturday morning and end Sunday afternoon. To try-out you must learn the material taught on Saturday (please contact the coach for specific squad requirements).
During basketball season we hold a recruitment night prior to one of our men's games so prospects can attend to learn more about the program and ask questions. I will have specific try-out dates at this meeting. In order to be invited to this event you will need to apply to Wofford and have cheer and/or dance listed as an interest on your application. In order to try-out for any of the squads your deposit to attend Wofford must be paid.
