Annually Funded Scholarships

Robert D. Atkins Football Scholarship Fund
Robert D. Atkins, a 1965 gradate of Wofford & a former varsity football letterman, has established the Robert D. Atkins Scholarship Fund. First preference for awarding scholarships from this fund goes to students with outstanding academic credentials who participate in the college’s intercollegiate football program & exhibit the qualities of character, leadership & service to others.
Recipient: Lorenzo Long, Football

Thomas C. Brittain Scholarship Fund
Established by Thomas C. Brittain and his family. Mr. Brittain is a 1975 graduate of Wofford, a former varsity football letterman and a member of the Board of Trustees (1997-2009; chair 2004-2009). First preference in awarding scholarships from this fund goes to students with outstanding academic credentials majoring in history, English, or religion, as well as being participants in the college’s intercollegiate football team.

Robert J. Freeman Scholarship Fund
The Robert J. Freeman Scholarship Fund was created in 1998 with a bequest from Mr. Freeman, a Spartanburg business leader who died in 1997. The fund supports a participant in Wofford’s intercollegiate golf program.
Recipient: Elizabeth Thompson, Women's Golf

James M. Johnson Football Scholarship Fund
James M. Johnson, a 1970 Wofford graduate and a former varsity football letterman, has established the James Johnson Football Scholarship Fund. First preference for awarding scholarships from this fund will be awarded to a student-athlete participating in the football program.

The Keisler Family Athletic Scholarship
Mary and Wade Keisler '80 have established an annually funded athletic scholarship in honor of their family. The recipient of the scholarship is determined by the athletic director.
Recipient: Larry McKnight, Men's Basketball

Midlands Area Invitational Golf Tournament Scholarship Fund
Established in 1994 by the Columbia Area Alumni Club. Proceeds come from an annual golf tournament held in the spring. First preference for awards from the fund go to student-athletes from Columbia, SC.
Recipient: Lauren Dunbar, Women's Golf

Upstate Area Invitational Golf Scholarship Fund
Established in 1995 to honor the 1973 national championship golf team. Proceeds come from an annual golf tournament held each fall. First preference for awards from this fund go to student-athletes who are participants in the intercollegiate golf program.
Recipient: Hannah Washko, Women's Soccer

Brady Davis "Tripp" Weed III Scholarship Fund
Recipient: Tyler Vaughn, Football

David G. Williamson Football Scholarship Fund
Established in 1988 by Mrs. David G. Williamson in memory of her late husband, David G. Williamson, a 1950 graduate of Wofford. Preference in awarding the scholarship will be given to applicants who participate in the college’s intercollegiate football program & who exhibit qualities of outstanding character, leadership & service to others as exemplified in the life of Mr. Williamson.
