Jimmy Gibbs
Jimmy and Marsha Gibbs, natives to Spartanburg, SC, have continuously and generously given to Wofford and the Spartanburg community for years. Jimmy Gibbs, a magnate within the textile industry, is the President and CEO of Gibbs International, Inc., the world’s largest dealer in pre-owned textile machinery. Jimmy and Marsha have been outstanding and generous supporters of Wofford, providing the lead donation for the aptly-named Gibbs Memorial Stadium. In addition to their support of Wofford, they have given incredible gifts to the Spartanburg community, namely funding the Gibbs Regional Cancer Center.
In 1983, Mr. and Mrs. Gibbs established an endowed football scholarship in his father's memory. The Wofford Student-Athlete Advisory Committee presented Mr. and Mrs. Gibbs with its 2004 Distinguished Service Award. The Gibbs also received a Distinguished Service Award from the Southern Conference in 2004.
