Robert E. Gregory, Jr., a 1964 graduate, continues to contribute to Wofford, both through his service as an alumni, as well as through his illustrious business career. After graduating from Wofford, Mr. Gregory earned his law degree from the University of South Carolina Law School. With his Wofford education and his legal education, Mr. Gregory has been a force within the consumer products industry. His previous posts include: Chairman, CEO and member of the board of directors of The Gitano Group, an $830 million apparel company; President, COO and board member of VF Corporation, a $2.8 billion consumer products company; and Group VP, general counsel and board member for Spartan Mills.
Currently, Mr. Gregory serves as Chairman and CEO of New York-based London Fog Corporation, the international leader of rainwear and outerwear. In addition, Mr. Gregory serves on the Board of Directors for the Promus Hotel Corporation.
His association with Wofford has continued throughout his career, earning him several outstanding awards from the College. He has received both a Distinguished Alumni Award, as well as an Honorary Doctorate degree. Also, he has served as a former President of the Terrier Club, and served as a former Chairman on the Wofford Board of Trustees. Mr. Gregory, along with his wife Marie, and children Scott ’90 and Kelly, have endowed an athletic scholarship, with a matching gift from the estate of
Mrs. Homozel Mickel Daniel, directed towards a student-athlete who demonstrates athletic ability, leadership potential, and academic achievement.
