Joyce, a 1979 graduate of Wofford, is a native of Nashville. He is currently the president of Synthesis Advisors, Inc., an investment management company. Within the Nashville business community, he is a member of the Exchange Club and the One Hundred Club, and various horse racing associations around the country. He is a member of the board of the Wofford National Alumni Association and the Terrier Club, and a former member of the Wofford Investment Advisory Committee. He and his wife, Sue, have twin daughters, Claire and Susie, age 10.
Two athletic endowed scholarships have been created by the Joyce Family Foundation, with a matching gift from the estate of
Mrs. Homozel Mickel Daniel, to be given to members of the Wofford golf team. The Douglas Henry Joyce Golf Scholarships provide a total of four scholarships to the golf program, two coming from the Joyce Family Foundation, with two created by the Daniel matching gift. The scholarships are awarded to outstanding students and golfers of high personal integrity who demonstrate the qualities of sportsmanship, leadership, and academic achievement.
