LaFon C. Dees

LaFon C. Dees graduated from Wofford in 1959 with a degree in Business, and has consistently supported Wofford, both through generous contributions, and as a financial advisor. Prior to entering into the job market, Mr. Dees proudly served his country as First Lieutenant and Airborne Range Company Commander in the U.S. Army at Fort Lenardwood, MO from 1959 to 1962.

After the Army, Mr. Dees entered into the personal investment industry, where he quickly ascended the ranks of executive management. In 1983, Mr. Dees was promoted to Senior Vice President of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. In 1991, Mr. Dees was given Senior Investment Management Consultant (SIMC) designation. During the course of his career, Mr. Dees has garnered several awards, including: Top 10% Chairman's Council & President’s Council with Smith Barney; Marquis - Who's Who in America, 2001; The Global Directory - Who's Who, 2006; The Heritage Registry - Who's Who, 2006-2007 Edition.

Mr. Dees has consistently helped Wofford with their financial endowments and has served on both the Terrier Club Board of Directors, as well as the National Alumni Board. Mr. Dees was also a founding member of the Wofford College Investment Advisory Committee. He is also a member of Kappa Alpha Order Fraternity. The LaFon and Winston Dees Family Endowed Scholarship, along with a matching gift from the estate of Mrs. Homozel Mickel Daniel, goes to a student-athlete on the men’s basketball program.
