Victor M. Smith
Mr. Smith was born in Pauline, SC, graduated from Spartanburg Methodist Junior College and then attended Wofford College on a full academic scholarship. After graduating from Wofford, he went on to become a tremendous public servant to the State of South Carolina and to the local communities who were blessed to experience his generosity. His record of public service was exemplary, ranging from the Director of the Woodcraft Sportsman Club to a coach and organizer of Little League Baseball. His remarkable record of service earned him a Wofford Alumni Citation in 1960.
Mr. Smith was a public educator within the State of South Carolina for 41 years, educating the youth within the Lowndesville, Swansea, Mars Bluff, Tans Bay, and Bonaire Schools communities. He proudly served as the President of the Florence County Retired Educators Association, as well as being a loyal member of the South Carolina Retired Teachers Association and the National Retired Teachers Association.
The Victor M. and James V. Smith Academic-Athletic Endowed Scholarship Fund is awarded to an outstanding scholar-athlete on the football, golf, or tennis team.
