Wade A. Corn

Mr. Wade A. Corn ’50 was an exceptional educator and coach throughout his lifetime. He began a successful athletic career at Wofford on their 1949 undefeated team as an offensive lineman. After graduating, Mr. Corn served as a football coach for both Paris High School, as well as Lancaster High School. During his coaching career, he was a part of two Shrine Bowl of the Carolina’s winning coaching staffs, once in 1958 as an assistant coach, and once in 1968 as the head coach of South Carolina Shrine Bowl team. After coaching, Mr. Corn went on to become the Athletic Director and Assistant Principal of Dorman High School. Corn was instrumental in the building of John L. Martin Stadium at Spartanburg County High School. His leadership and excellence in coaching also earned him the honor of the President of the South Carolina Coaches Association.

The Wade A. Corn, Sr. Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund, established by Mrs. Wade A. Corn, Sr., and their children Wade, Jr. ’73, William ’76, and Linda, is awarded to student-athletes whose character and ideals reflect Mr. Corn and who participate in the football program.
