Noting Chattanooga game...
The mission on Saturday at Chattanooga is simple. Win and likely punch a ticket to the FCS playoffs. Lose and the 2011 campaign ends. That is what faces the Wofford Terriers this Saturday for a 2pm tilt against the Mocs. Needing 7 Division I wins to qualify for the playoffs, Saturday's game is a must win to be eligible.
Saturday's game pits the league #1 team in total offense, despite last week's loss to Georgia Southern against a team who is tops in the league in total defense. The Wofford defense - which has injuries to key players to work through - is still ranked second in the league in total defense behind UTC. The Mocs are last in the league in total offense. Chattanooga is receiving votes on tthe latest FCS polls, currently ranked 38th.
Chattanooga is a team who had playoff aspirations last year extinguished with a 45-14 loss in Spartanburg. This year the Mocs, saw a season where they began the year ranked tumble after back-to-back losses by the score of 28-27. One at home to The Citadel, allowing the Bulldogs to score 28 unanswered to win, then - the following week - battling back to nearly beat Georgia Southern until the two-point conversion for the win failed. The Mocs lost to Furman 14-7 and at Appalachian State 14-12 while not allowing the Mountaineers and offensive touchdown. All total Chattanooga's four conference losses are by a combined 11 points. The Mocs are coming off a 24-9 win at Samford two weeks ago and have won 3 of the last 4 contests.
