Dr. Stephen Kana is in his 22nd year as the team orthopedist for Wofford College. The Saratoga, N.Y. native has a primary practice at the Sports Medicine Institute in Spartanburg.

Kana received his bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York, before receiving his medical degree from the Georgetown Medical School. He also completed his orthopedic residency at Georgetown.

Prior to coming to Spartanburg in August 1994, Kana worked at the nationally-respected Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles. While in California, he served as assistant team physician for the Lakers, Dodgers, Rams, Kings and Angels, as well as the University of Southern California. Kana was recognized by the Wofford Hall of Fame as an Honorary Letterman in 1999. Kana and his wife, Jean, have two daughters:Â Sarah, a 2011 graduate of Wofford, and Claire.
