After suffering a career-ending injury in the fall, Hawley will remain with the team as a student assistant coach this season. He missed the 2014 season due to Tommy John surgery. During the 2013 season, he threw 51.0 innings in 18 appearances. He started eight games and had a 9.53  ERA with 27 strikeouts.
    
As a freshman at Spartanburg Methodist College, he posted a 3-3 record in eight starts, which included two complete games. He had 33 strikeouts in 37.0 innings pitched with a 4.86 ERA. At South Aiken High School, Hawley was named All-Region his senior season, playing third base and pitching. In 2010, his team won the 3A Lower State Championship. Hawley was also a four-year starter at quarterback.
    
His brother, Tucker Hawley, was a pitcher at Alabama and his father, Billy Hawley, was drafted in the first round (23rd overall pick) of the 1982 MLB Draft by the Cincinnati Reds. Hawley will graduate this spring with a degree in accounting.
