Member of the 2024 Southern Conference Tournament championship team that earned the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament win in the Chapel Hill Regional.
CAREER: Started all 121 games played in two seasons at Wofford after transferring from Monmouth… Hit .333 with 158 hits, 130 runs, 29 doubles, seven triples, 20 home runs, 122 RBI and 27 stolen bases… Recorded over 200 hits in career between time at Monmouth and Wofford… Tied for fifth-most RBI in a career in program history… Once earned Southern Conference Player of the Week recognition and twice named Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week… Two-time All-Southern Conference selection with one first-team nod (2024) and one second-team honor (2023)… Twice named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll… Member of the 2024 Southern Conference All-Academic Team… Named to the 2024 CSC Academic All-District Team.
2024: Started all 62 games at third base… Posted a .350 batting average, 12th in the conference… Was second in the SoCon with 69 runs and 76 RBI, third with 85 hits, eighth with a .461 on-base percentage and 12th with a .617 slugging mark… Set new single-season program record with those 76 RBI… Led team in slugging, on-base percentage, RBI and walks drawn (46) … Named SoCon Player of the Week once and SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week twice… Named All-Southern Conference First Team by the coaches and media… Opened season with two hits and two RBI against Towson (2/16) … Tallied three hits and two RBI against FDU (2/23) … In game two of a doubleheader against Fordham (3/2), reached base five times with three hits and two walks while tallying two RBI… In the series against Lafayette (3/8-3/10), opened with three hits and five RBI before hitting a home run with three total RBI in game two, and concluded the series with four hits, a walk and six RBI in game three… Recorded 200th career hit at College of Charleston (3/17) … Opened SoCon play with three hits and seven RBI against The Citadel (3/23), hitting a pair of homers in the first game of a doubleheader before adding another blast in game two… Had three hits and four RBI with a homer against UNCG (4/7) … Played long ball in three-straight games against Gardner-Webb (5/5), Presbyterian (5/7) and ETSU (5/10) … On senior day against ETSU (5/12), hit a walk-off grand slam in the 10th inning to cap a 10-run comeback as part of a three-hit, four-RBI day… Homered against ETSU (5/25) in the SoCon Tournament… Against Samford (5/26) in the SoCon Championship, recorded two extra-base hit with a double and a home run to tally two RBI… Posted an RBI against LSU (6/2) in the NCAA Tournament… Named to the SoCon Academic Honor Roll and SoCon All-Academic Team… Named CSC Academic All-District.
2023: Started all 59 games at third base… Posted a .315 batting average with 73 hits, seven home runs, 46 runs batted in and 55 runs scored… Led team in games played and started (59 each) and in at-bats (232) … Named All-Southern Conference Second Team by the coaches and media… Recorded first hit and RBI as a Terrier in the season opener against Southern Illinois (2/17) … Hit first home run as a Terrier against Sacred Heart (3/5), driving home two runs… Totaled a pair of solo home runs against Michigan State (3/8) at Fluor Field… Hit a solo homer at Georgia Tech (3/21) … Recorded a four-hit game with a walk against VMI (3/24) and followed the next day (3/25) with another four-hit affair, driving in two runs and adding another walk… Had three hits and two runs driven in in the series finale against VMI (3/26) … At College of Charleston (4/4), knocked home a pair of runs with two hits, both doubles… Recorded three hits and two RBI against Presbyterian (4/11) … At Winthrop (4/18), totaled a pair of extra-base hits with a double and a solo home run… Hit a walk-off two-run home run against Samford (4/22) in the 10th inning as part of a two-hit, three-RBI day… Had three hits in a run-rule win at Davidson (4/26) … Knocked two hits, including a home run, against High Point (4/30) with three runs batted in… Recorded a double and a triple at UNCG (5/6) with a pair of runs driven home… Followed with a three-hit day in the next game (5/7) against the Spartans with one run knocked in…Drove in three runs at The Citadel (5/19) in game one of a doubleheader… Tallied three hits in the series finale at The Citadel (5/20) … Recorded two hits in the SoCon Championship against Samford (5/27) and swiped three bases... Named to Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll.
PRIOR TO WOFFORD: In 2022 as a sophomore, started all 49 games played... Knocked 57 hits and nine round-trippers with 41 RBI as part of a .279/.366/.598 slash line... Also pitched 3.0 total innings, 1.0 each over three appearances... Played in 37 games, all in the infield, with 36 starts as a freshman in 2021 at Monmouth... Earned multiple honors, including MAAC Rookie of the Year, Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-America, All-MAAC First Team, All-MAAC Rookie Team and MAAC All-Tournament Team... Slashed .350/.414/.650 with 43 hits, four homers and 21 RBI.
HIGH SCHOOL: Competed at Valley View High School under Coach Jason Munley… Hit .420 for his career and posted a 1.50 ERA… Twice was named All-Region First Team… Helped team to 2018 district title and state runner-up… Also competed in basketball.
PERSONAL: Son of Tara and George Black... Older brother, Mason, played college baseball at Lehigh from 2019-21 and is currently an MLB pitcher with the San Francisco Giants... Majoring in international affairs.
