Member of the 2024 Southern Conference Tournament championship team that earned the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament win in the Chapel Hill Regional.
CAREER: Played 82 games with 50 starts over three seasons of action after sitting out as a freshman…. Hit .304 with 58 hits, 13 doubles and nine home runs… Added 38 runs, 66 RBI, 32 walks and five stolen bases… Named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll in 2020-21.
2024: Started all 12 games played before season was cut short due to injury… Recorded 16 hits in 41 at-bats for a .390 average… Totaled 10 runs, three doubles, two homers, 16 RBI and two steals… Posted two hits and a walk against Towson (2/18) … Notched first RBI of season against Kennesaw State (2/21) … Recorded two RBI with two hits, including a double, against FDU (2/23) … Posted three RBI in game two against the Knights (2/24) with three hits in game three (2/25) … In game one of a doubleheader against Fordham (3/2), tallied three RBI with a home run… Recorded two RBI on two hits in game two against the Rams (3/2) … Posted three more RBI with a homer against Fordham (3/3) in the series finale… Posted a two-RBI double against Lafayette (3/10).
2023: Played 40 games with 19 starts spread between catcher and DH after missing beginning of season due to injury… Hit .245 with 27 hits, seven home runs, 39 RBI and 22 runs scored… Missed beginning of season due to injury but returned against VMI (3/24), starting at DH… Notched two hits, including a homer, the following game against the Keydets (3/25), driving in seven runs… In game two of a doubleheader against Siena (4/1), hit a home run as one of two hits, bringing in two runs… At College of Charleston (4/4), hit a home run with two RBI… Drove home three runs in each of the final two games at Western Carolina (4/14 and 4/15) … Had one hit and three RBI against Samford (4/23) … At UNC Asheville (4/25), drove home six runs, four of which coming by way of a grand slam, as part of a three-hit effort… Had a hit and four RBI against Mercer (5/25) in the SoCon Tournament.
2022: Played in 35 games with five starts, three at catcher and two as the designated hitter… Posted a .375 batting average with 15 hits, 11 RBI and six runs scored… Notched first collegiate hit and RBI in debut against George Mason (2/18) as a pinch-hitter… In the series finale against George Mason (2/20), recorded a hit, RBI, run and stolen base… Made first start at catcher in the first game of the doubleheader against Penn (3/5) and drew a walk… In the back half of that twin bill, recorded a pinch-hit walk-off sacrifice fly to secure the win for the Terriers… At Gardner-Webb (3/26), collected two RBI with a pinch-hit two-run double… As the designated hitter at Samford (5/1), picked up two RBI on two hits… Recorded a pinch-hit single in the SoCon Championship (5/29).
2021: Did not see action ... Named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll.
HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year starter at catcher for Newington High School ... As a sophomore and junior was named All-Conference and All-State ... Batted .441 with 29 RBIs during his sophomore season and had a .542 batting average with 26 RBIs during his junior season ... Played four seasons at wide receiver and safety on the football team, along with one season of basketball ... Member of the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society.
PERSONAL: Birthday is August 29 ... Son of Michael Johnson and Jennifer Win-Johnson ... Older brother, Cooper, played baseball at Adelphi University from 2020-23... Father was drafted by the Mets and played three seasons in the minor leagues after playing at Union College ... Grandfather has been a St. Louis Cardinals and Mets scout for 30 years ... Majoring in physics.
