HIGH SCHOOL: Played linebacker for four seasons at West High School with an overall record of 51-6 ... Won back-to-back state championships and named all-region twice ... As a  senior had 96 tackles with 12.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks to be named Region Linebacker of the Year ... During his junior season had 86 tackles and 15.5 tackles for loss, along with eight sacks and an interception ... Also played basketball ... Member of the National Honor Society ...

PERSONAL: Son of Matt and Nancy Smith ... Planning to major in finance ... Brother, Franklin '25, was also on the Wofford football team.
