Devin Watson

Devin Watson returned to Wofford as a member of the coaching staff in January of 2023. He works with the cornerbacks and serves as the recruiting coordinator.
   
During the 2024 season, the Terriers were 5-7 overall and the total defense was ranked third in the Southern Conference. The passing defense was first in the league at 197.9 yards per game and was fourth in passes intercepted. Amir Annoor earned All-Southern Conference second team honors as he led the team with three interceptions.
    
In the 2023 season, the Wofford defense was ranked third in the Southern Conference. The pass defense was ranked second in the league, while the defensive pass efficiency was first overall. The team was ranked fifth in interceptions, led by Damien Curtis with a team-high three. Eli Campbell was named to the Southern Conference All-Freshman team with 19 tackles and an interception.

Watson, a 2019 Wofford graduate, spent the 2022 season as cornerback coach and assistant recruiting coordinator at Tennessee Tech. The Golden Eagles were 4-7 on the season and 2-3 in the OVC.
 
He entered the coaching ranks in the fall of 2019 as a graduate assistant coach at Shorter University. The group had seven interceptions and 21 pass break-ups on the season. He moved to Limestone University as defensive backs coach and special teams coordinator. In the spring of 2021 the team played in four games. The secondary accounted for two interceptions and four forced fumbles while defensive back Kris Williams led the team in tackles. During the 2021 season, the Saints played nine games and they recorded six interceptions and 20 pass break-ups.
 
Watson started in 33 games during his time at Wofford, finishing with 142 career tackles and seven career interceptions. An All-SoCon coaches and media selection and a HeroSports All-American, he helped lead the Terriers to back-to-back SoCon Championships and three FCS playoff appearances.
 
Named SoCon Defensive Player of the Week twice as a junior, Watson ranked in the FCS top-10 that season with four picks. He had two interceptions against Mercer to earn his first weekly award before tallying 11 tackles, a forced fumble and recovery, and a pick in double overtime against Chattanooga.
 
A native of Gainesville, Georgia, Watson graduated from Wofford with a degree in business economics. He and his wife, Lexi, have a son, Josiah, and a daughter, Hazel.
