Lane Knost joined the coaching staff in March of 2026. Knost is the co-offensive coordinator and will work with the tight ends.
Knost spent the 2025 season as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Shorter University. The team ranked first in Conference Carolinas in rushing touchdowns and rushing, while ranked third in total offense. The offense had four All-Conference performers.
Before joining Shorter, Knost spent three seasons at Limestone University, where he was elevated to Offensive Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator after initially coaching wide receivers, tight ends, and special teams. During his tenure, Limestone engineered one of the most dramatic turnarounds in college football - going from an 0–9 season in 2021 to back-to-back playoff berths in 2022 and 2023, including a share of the Piedmont SAC Championship. Under his leadership in 2024, the Saints became one of the most prolific offenses in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC), ranking #1 in total offense, points per game, yards per play, and passing offense, while also finishing top 15 nationally in multiple categories. QB Dustin Noller was a two-time SAC Offensive Player of the Year.
Prior to Limestone, Knost coached wide receivers and coordinated special teams at Muskingum University (2021–22), where his unit helped guide the program to its best record in 18 years. His wide receivers set multiple school records, including single-game receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns.
Knost began his college coaching career with stops at Marietta College and Limestone in various offensive and special teams roles.
He is a 2015 graduate of Kentucky Christian University, where he was a four-year starter for the Knights as a tight end and wide receiver. He is ranked in the top ten in school history in receptions. He earned USA College Football Small College All-American honors (2014), competed in the USA College Football Bowl, and represented Team USA in the FISU World University Championships in Monterrey, Mexico, helping secure a silver medal.
Knost and his wife, Ashley, have a son, Johnny.
