Luke Johnson joined the staff in the summer of 2020 as defensive quality control and video coordinator. In February of 2021 he assumed the role of outside linebackers coach for the Terriers.
In the 2021 fall season, John Beckley was second on the team in total tackles with 48 and Harrison Morgan added 36 tackles. Rett Russell tied for the team lead in tackles for loss with 4.5. During the 2021 spring season, John Beckley finished third on the team in total tackles and he led the team in tackles for loss in the five games played.
Johnson played four seasons at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, where he was coached by Sam Seifkes. As a defensive back he played in 30 career games with 10 interceptions and 88 total tackles. As a senior he was one of four team captains. He was the recipient of the George Chryst Award for representing leadership and attitude both on and off the field. Johnson was named second team All-Conference in 2017 and was the team’s Newcomer of the Year in 2016. He graduated from Wisconsin-Platteville in December of 2019 with a degree in business administration.
A native of Milan, Illinois, Johnson graduated from Rockridge High School, where he was an All-State football player and the Three Rivers Conference Player of the Year as a senior.
