Mitch Doolittle joined the staff as outside linebackers coach and special teams coordinator in February of 2020. In February of 2021 he switched to inside linebackers and returned to outside linebackers in February of 2022. He added the assistant head coach title in January of 2023.
Following the 2024 season he moved back to inside linebackers and was named co-defensive coordinator.
During the 2024 season in which the Terriers were 5-7 overall, Jalen Marshall led the team with 95 tackles at outside linebacker as he was seventh in the SoCon in tackles and third in the league in solo tackles. The special teams were highlighted by Devery Cagle who led the team in scoring with 43 points. The group also had a pair of two-point conversion attempts.

Last season Jalen Marshall was fifth on the team with 47 total tackles at outside linebacker. On special teams, Bridger Jones led the team in scoring with 13 field goals and 13 extra points for 52 total points. Long snapper Tommy DiLiegro earned a spot on the Southern Conference All-Freshman Team.

Last season four different players earned starts at the two outside linebacker spots. Jalen Marshall was fourth on the team in total tackles as he was named to the Southern Conference All-Freshman Team, while John Boyles was fourth on the team in tackles for loss. In addition, kicker Bridger Jones was named to the Southern Conference All-Freshman Team as he was 24-of-24 on extra points and was second on the team in scoring.

Last season Joe Beckett led the team and was tenth in the Southern Conference in total tackles with 80 as he was the only player to start every game for the Terriers. The special teams unit was third in the conference in kickoff returns and fifth in net punting. Walker Gliarmis was 27-of-27 on extra points and 8-of-12 on field goals.

During the 2020-21 spring season inside linebackers Joe Beckett and Brandon Brown were first and second on the team in total tackles, respectively. Beckett was also second on the team in tackles for loss with three. On special teams, Landon Parker was first in the Southern Conference and fifth in the nation in punting at 45.0 yards. Walker Gliarmis was 5-of-5 on field goals and perfect on extra points.

Doolittle came to Wofford after spending two seasons as the safeties coach at Mercer University. Last season he coached Eric Jackson, who earned All-Southern Conference honors and was second on the team with 90 tackles. In 2018 he worked with All-SoCon selection Malique Fleming, who was second on the team with 77 tackles.

He spent the 2017 season as the defensive coordinator at Presbyterian College. For the previous four seasons he was the secondary coach and co-special teams coordinator at Mercer. The Bears recorded double-digit interceptions in three of the four seasons and they led the Southern Conference in interceptions in 2014 with 13. In 2013, Mercer was ranked 12th in the nation in rushing defense as he worked with two of the Bears top three tacklers. He was the linebackers coach at Savannah State in 2011.

Doolittle began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at UAB, working with the secondary and linebackers. He then served as a graduate assistant in 2009 at the University of Georgia as the Bulldogs won the Independence Bowl.

He played quarterback and wide receiver at Presbyterian College, graduating with a degree in history in 2007. He and his wife, Stacy, a 2007 Wofford graduate, have daughters - Aubree and Bailey - along with twins Cora and Colt.
