Wofford College Athletics

Peter Collins joined the coaching staff in January of 2024. Collins will be the offensive passing game coordinator and work with the tight ends.

During the 2024 season, Wofford posted a 5-7 overall record. The offense tied a school record for completions in a season. Jordan Davis had a team-high three receiving touchdowns and earned All-Southern Conference second team honors. He was the first Wofford tight end to be honored since the 2007 season.
 
Collins spent the previous two seasons as offensive quality control at the University of Pittsburgh. In 2022, the Panthers had a 1,000-yard rusher and a 1,000-yard receiver for the first time since 2014. Israel Abanikanda was the ACC rushing champion with 1,431 yards and led the nation in scoring with 11.6 points per game. He was named first team All-American by CBS Sports and ESPN.
 
In the 2021 season, Collins served as co-offensive coordinator at Centennial (Ill.) High School. The team reached the playoffs for the first time in nine seasons and had their first playoff win in sixteen years.
 
From 2018-20, Collins was an offensive analyst at the University of Illinois under Lovie Smith. His tenure at Illinois was highlighted by the 2019 campaign, when the Illini advanced to the Redbox Bowl on the strength of victories over No. 6 Wisconsin (24-23) and Michigan State (37-34). Illinois rallied from a 25-point deficit in defeating the Spartans, marking the biggest comeback in school history.
 
Prior to Illinois, Collins was the offensive coordinator at Becker College, an NCAA Division III program in Massachusetts, for two seasons (2016-17).
 
Collins’ additional appointments include stints at FIU (offensive graduate assistant, 2013-15), Rutgers (player development, 2010-12), Northeastern (assistant defensive line, 2009-10) and Delaware Valley College (running backs, 2007-09).
 
During the 2006 offseason, Collins completed a football operations internship with the Indianapolis Colts.
 
He is a 2007 graduate of the University of Mary Washington with a bachelor’s degree in American Studies. He completed a master’s degree in recreation and sport management from FIU in 2016.
 
Collins and his wife, Amy, have two daughters, Madelyn and Kate.
