Rob O’Connell worked with the defense in quality control during the 2019 season. The team won the Southern Conference Championship and competed in the NCAA FCS Playoffs. Among Southern Conference schools, the defense was first in total defense, first in rushing defense and second in scoring defense.
A 2013 graduate of the University of South Carolina, he was an assistant football coach at Ridge View High School for five seasons.
He was the head coach at Richard Winn Academy in Winnsboro in 2016, posting an 8-4 record and reached the semifinals of the SCISA playoffs. Prior to joining the staff at Wofford he was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Irmo High School.
