Biography

An All-SoCon candidate from his right guard position . . . Can be a dominating blocker . . . A good leader and extremely devoted to the team . . . One of the stronger players on the squad . . . Is coming off double shoulder surgery during the off-season . . . Very competitive . . .

2005: Started all 11 games at right guard . . . Finished third on the team in knockdown blocks with 157 . . . Had a season-high 28 knockdowns in Wofford’s 21-17 win over #14 Georgia Southern (Sept. 17) . . . Also recorded 24 knockdown blocks against Chattanooga (Oct. 1) . . . His 157 knockdown blocks is the 11th-best in a season by a Terrier . . . Earned his third varsity letter . . . Received one of the Terriers’ Unsung Hero awards following spring drills . . . Served as a game captain against Elon (Oct. 8) . . .

2004: Recorded 69 knockdown blocks to place seventh on the team despite playing behind All-America selections Eric Deutsch and Bobby Gibbs . . . Posted a season-best 17 knockdowns in a 27-13 win at Elon (Oct. 9) . . . Also reached double figures the week before with 10 in the 56-21 victory over Chattanooga (Oct. 2) . . . Had a season-best grade of 92.9 percent in totaling seven knockdown blocks in the 38-17 win vs. The Citadel (Oct. 30) . . . Had a 91.9 mark to go with nine knockdowns the next game in a 49-17 decision over Gardner-Webb (Nov. 6) . . .

2003: Started two games as a true freshman replacement for injured All-America Eric Deutsch . . . The Terriers posted 45-7 and 7-6 wins over Elon (Oct. 11) and Furman (Nov. 15), respectively, in his two starts . . . Those two games also represented his season-high in knockdown blocks . . . Posted 15 knockdowns vs. the Phoenix and 13 against the Paladins . . . Totaled 53 knockdown blocks on the year, the top total for a Wofford freshman in 2003 . . . Also had seven knockdowns in the 28-14 win over East Tennessee State (Nov. 8) that clinched the outright SoCon title for the Terriers . . . Recorded six knockdown blocks in the 38-6 win at Western Carolina (Oct. 18) . . .

High School: A 2003 graduate of Elder High School . . . A first-team All-Greater Cincinnati League and all-city selection . . . Also received special mention All-Southwest Ohio honors . . . Two-year starter and team captain . . . Helped lead Elder to the Division I Ohio state championship . . . Recipient of the school’s Weight Room Dedication Award . . .

Personal: Finance major . . . Son of Ed and Mary Bauer . . . Born Jan. 3, 1985 in Cincinnati . . . His father also played at Elder and was voted the team’s best defensive lineman in 1970 before playing collegiately at Notre Dame.
