Michael Vardzel joined the staff in February of 2021 as defensive quality control. Following the spring season he moved to offensive quality control, assisting Wade Lang and his staff. He had previous coached wide receivers and returners at Wando High School.
Vardzel played wide receiver for four seasons at Pitt. He served on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and also worked several years at the Pitt football camps. A member of the ACC Academic All-Conference Honor Roll, he graduated from Pitt in December of 2019 with a degree in finance.
A native of Charleston, S.C., Vardzel graduated from Wando High School where he was a three-year letterman at wide receiver and safety. He also lettered in wrestling and baseball, helping Wando to the 2015 state baseball championship.
