Staymon Johnson joined the staff in the summer of 2021 as defensive quality control. He assists mainly with the defensive line. Prior to joining the Terriers he spent one year at Galax High School, where he taught math and coached the outside linebackers.
Johnson played linebacker for four seasons at Emory & Henry. During his senior year, he played in all ten games with two starts. He recorded 40 tackles and eight tackles for loss. As a junior he played in eight games with 15 tackles and an interception. A four-time member of the ODAC All-Academic Team, he was named to the NFF Hampshire Honor Society and VaSID Academic All-State. Johnson was also a member of the tennis team. He graduated from Emory & Henry in May of 2020 with a degree in secondary education.
A native of Pilot Mountain, N.C., he played football and basketball at East Surry High School.
