Adam Sweeney

Sweeney enters his second season with the Terriers in 2020-21. Wofford College men’s basketball head coach announced the addition of Adam Sweeney to the 2019-20 staff. Sweeney serves as the Special Assistant to the Head Coach.
 
“I was fortunate enough to coach Adam in college and have admired his early success in the coaching profession.  This will complete our staff and adds another high-character and talented individual into our championship program.  I’m excited to welcome Adam and his fiancé Allie into the Terrier family.”
 
Sweeney began his career as a student manager at Gardner-Webb University in 2011, walking on to the team in 2012. Upon graduating with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Sweeney served as a graduate assistant for the Runnin’ Bulldogs from 2015-2017, earning his Master’s in Sport Pedagogy. While working at Gardner-Webb, Sweeney assisted in administrative duties and player workouts as well as academic oversight.
 
After working at Gardner-Webb, Sweeney spend the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Northwest Florida State College, helping guide the team to a 59-8 overall record with two Panhandle Conference Championship titles competing in region 8 of the junior college athletic association. Sweeney’s duties for the Raiders included: academic oversight (team GPA of 3.3), recruiting, player development, scouting, game planning, strength and conditioning and handling team travel and budget. During his tenure at Northwest Florida State College, Sweeney coached 12 All-Panhandle Conference selections including two player of the year honorees, six all-region selections, two first team All-Americans and one national player of the year.
