Wofford lacrosse head coach Kim Eldridge announced the addition of Abby Shields to her coaching staff.

"I would like to thank Wofford College and Kim Eldridge for this opportunity to coach at the Division I level," said Shields.

A native of Vero Beach, Florida, Shields spent the last three seasons competing in the SoCon, playing four years of lacrosse at Furman.

"I am very excited to be back in the Southern Conference. My goal is to help build this program and help develop young women to be successful on and off the field."

At Furman, Shields started all 75 contests for the Paladins, setting program records for goals scored (137), assists (100) and total points (237). Earning First Team All-SoCon honors as a senior and Second Team All-SoCon honors as a junior, Shields was a six-time SoCon Player of the Week award winner and was a member of the 2018 SoCon Academic Honor Roll squad. Shields also holds season records for points (69) and points in a single game (10) at Furman.

In addition to her accolades on the field, Shields has been a coach at lacrosse camps since 2016 and graduated with a bachelor's in health sciences in May.

Prior to her time at Furman, Shields helped Vero Beach High School win four state championships and was a two-time U.S. Lacrosse and Under Armour All-American.
