Amber Schinzing

Amber Schinzing enters her second season as an assistant coach on the Wofford volleyball staff. She came to Wofford from North Greenville, where she still serves as an assistant on the men's volleyball staff in the spring.

Schinzing has coached a wide variety of ages in both boys and girls club, high school, and collegiate-level volleyball, and brings a solid background to Wofford. She has coached at the Orlando Volleyball Academy since 2008 (USAV ranked 5th in Nation) and Orlando Gold, ages 10 to 18 in both indoor and beach volleyball. For two seasons, she coached with Orlando’s Olympia High School as Assistant Varsity Coach and Head JV Coach of the Boy’s Program. Additionally, Schinzing has worked with the Boy’s Florida Region High Performance Volleyball Training Camp. 

As a college coach, she was a graduate assistant at Harding University (Searcy, Ark.) in 2013.

Schinzing played four years as a setter at Harding University, and earned several all-conference and tournament honors, including ending the 2012 season with a national ranking of 17th among all NCAA Division II schools for assists per set. She led her team to an undefeated season and a conference championship, while being named to the all-conference team in addition to being named team captain her sophomore through senior years.

Schinzing has played organized volleyball since she was 13, starting on OVA’s elite teams. She lettered all four years of high school at The First Academy and Olympia High School in Orlando, FL. She was named captain her junior and senior years at Olympia, awarded MVP both years and named to the All-Metro First and Second Teams, also earned MVP at the Florida State and UCF Elite Camps. On the beach circuit, she qualified and earned second place at the 2009 AAU National Beach Volleyball Tournament in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Complimenting her volleyball background, Amber brings vast experience in strength and conditioning to the Terrier program. She has participated in an internship with Titus Sports Academy working with athletes and their training programs at the collegiate and professional levels. She is a certified personal trainer and yoga instructor. Also, she is a nationally certified EMT, and earned a degree in Exercise Science from Harding University and postgraduate work in Chemistry.
