Assistant Coach Sarah Gildersleeve Headshot 2014

Sarah Gildersleeve

Sarah Gildersleeve enters her second season as an assistant coach on the Wofford volleyball staff. She was hired on June 23, 2014. Prior to joining Wofford's staff, she was most recently an assistant coach at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Kentucky.

Gildersleeve works primarily with Wofford's middles. In her first season on the bench, Gildersleeve coached freshman Danni Densford to a Southern Conference All-Freshman Team selection, as well as two SoCon Freshman of the Week honors. Densford led all Terriers with 87 total blocks and 15 block solos. The freshman middle tallied 242 kills, averaged 2.02 kills per set and registered the team's highest attack percentage of .310, which ranks second in program history for a single season.

Before joining the Wofford staff, Gildersleeve was at Lindsey Wilson College. She helped coach Lindsey Wilson to a 36-6 record in 2013, including a 24-0 start. The Blue Raiders won the Mid-South Conference regular season title with a perfect 14-0 record, and were ranked as high as No. 8 nationally in the NAIA. Lindsey Wilson also boasted three NAIA All-Americans in the 2013 campaign, including one of Gildersleeve’s middles, Kailey Moorhead.

At the club level, Gildersleeve coached the 13- and 14-year-olds of Charleston Juniors from 2011-13. During that time, she also coached at Charleston Volleyball Academy.

Gildersleeve played collegiately at Georgia Southern from 2007-10, winning a Southern Conference Tournament Championship as a senior in 2010. She was named to the SoCon All-Tournament Team and played in the NCAA Tournament against Florida State, taking the Seminoles to four sets.

A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Gildersleeve earned a B.S. in sport management from Georgia Southern in 2011. She is currently working on a master’s degree in athletic administration from Western Kentucky.
