Tierney Flaherty joined the Wofford volleyball staff in January 2018. Flaherty came from Appalachian State University where she graduated in December 2017 with a degree in Psychology. Flaherty played volleyball her junior season at App State before serving as a Student Assistant Volleyball Coach her senior season.
As Student Assistant Coach, Flaherty complied scouting reports from VolleyMetrics and team film, assisted the head coach with practice drills and game planning, charted opposing teams' offenses, helped with the invitations and coaching aspects of the annual team camp, and performed administrative duties.Â
Flaherty's collegiate career began at Wofford where she saw action in 26 matches and made two starts, while participating in 54 total sets in her freshman campaign.
From November 2015 to December 2017 Flaherty served as a coach for Club Synergy's 18U team. In that role, Flaherty scheduled tournaments for competition, represented Club Synergy at regional and national tournaments, and worked closely with players, parents and college coaches to generate recruiting opportunities. She also taught private volleyball lessons for all skill-sets and ages.
Flaherty also helped as an assistant coach for two seasons at Watauga High School in Boone, N.C. There, she assisted both varsity and junior varsity coaches during practice and games and helped refine the volleyball skills of the players. She contributed to the class of 2018's three year record of 64-12 and the team's two appearances in the Final Eight. Â
Flaherty, a native of Georgetown, Indiana, graduated from Floyd Central High School in 2014. She resides in Spartanburg.Â
