Wofford College Athletics

Member of the 2023 Southern Conference Tournament Championship squad that made an NCAA Tournament appearance, both of which were firsts for any Wofford women’s team sport.

2023: Played three sets over three matches… Recorded a dig against South Carolina State (9/1) … Played one set each against Presbyterian (9/8) and UNCG (11/3).

2022: Played in six matches, eight sets… Tallied five service aces and one assist… Averaged 0.63 aces/s… Delivered first aces of career with three against South Carolina State (9/16), also recorded first assist… Added another ace against The Citadel (10/5) and at Mercer (10/14).

HIGH SCHOOL: Helped lead Mill Creek to regional runner-up and third-place finishes her junior and senior year, respectively, while tallying 29 aces, 130 digs and 14 assists in 52 sets played in 2021... Her junior year in 2020, Freire was named to the AVCA Phenom List, All-Region Team (Region 8-7A), All-County Second Team and was a Georgia Positive Athlete nominee upon recording 132 digs, 43 aces and even tallying 311 assists as setter with a 14.3 assist/s mark... Academically, Freire is a two-time Academic Excellence Award recipient, as she's also involved with the National Honors Society, Student Council and Senior Cabinet at Mill Creek High School.

PERSONAL: Birthday is February 3... Daughter of Chase and Polly Stephens... Majoring in psychology.
