Women’s Soccer Adds Eleven for 2015

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College women's soccer head coach Amy Kiah announced the addition of 11 new members for the Terriers in 2015. Kiah's signees include Caroline Boone, Alexandra King, Sarah Grace Lindsey, Shelby Pollock, Clare Robinson, Caitlyn Scott, Rachel Shinnick, Catherine Slater, Kendall Stanley, Rachel Thornton and Hayley Younginer.
 
Caroline Boone (MF, 5'8", Nicholasville, Ky.): Boone competed as a three-year starter for the Javanon Soccer Club in the midfield, helping guide the team to three state championships in 2012, 2013 and 2014. She earned varsity letters all four years at Lexington Christian Academy, earning multiple distinctions throughout her career. Boone was named to the Kentucky All-State Team (2014, 2013), National Christian Schools Athletic Association Second Team All- American (2013), First Team All-Region (2014, 2013), Second Team All-Region (2012), First Team All-City (2014, 2013), Second Team All-City (2012), Team MVP (2014) and Offensive MVP (2013, 2012). Boone finished third all time in school history in goals scored (48) and assists (26). She was also a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta and Beta Club. Boone plans to major in finance.
 
Alex King (GK, 5'8", Orlando, Fla.): King joins the Terriers after playing the last four years with Boone High School and the South Orlando Soccer Club. A four year starter with her club and two year starter with Boone, King led her club team to win the Nike Champions Cup in 2013 and win the President's Cup and Region Cup in 2014. Her high school team were two-time Metro Runners Up with her starting in goal in 2013 and 2014. King served as a team captain for both her high school and club team. King also lettered in track and field and was named Boone's Field Player of the Year" in 2014 after finishing second in the district and fifth in the region in the discus. She was a member of the National Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. King plans to major in biology.
 
Sarah Grace Lindsey (D, 5'7", Mountain Brook, Ala.): Lindsey joins Wofford after playing outside back at Mountain Brook High School and the BUSA '97 Elite ECNL Club. As a three-year letter winner, Lindsey helped Mountain Brook to a 6A State Championship in 2013 and a 6A State Runner Up in 2014. Lindsey was a 2014 Wendy's High School Heisman Winner. She also competed on Alabama's ODP team from 2009-2010. Off the field, she was a member of the National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, French Club and French Honor Society. Lindsey plans to major in Pre-med.
 
Shelby Pollock (MF, 5'5", Morristown, TN.): Pollock joins Wofford after playing three years at Morristown West High School. She helped the team reach two conference championships and three district championships, scoring 24 goals and assisting on 20 more. She was named Second Team All-Conference all three years. Pollock helped lead her team to the program's winningest season in 2013, at 14-2. Off the field, she graduated with honors and distinction while serving as a member of Beta Club, Future Business Leaders of America, FCA and Young Life. She plans to major in international economics.
 
Clare Robinson (D/MF, 5'8", Davidson, N.C.): Robinson comes to Wofford after starting the past four years at midfield and defense for the Woodlawn School. Robinson helped lead the squad to conference championships during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. In 2012-2014 she was named the team's MVP, earning All-Conference nods her freshman and sophomore seasons and was named captain as a sophomore and a junior. In club, her team earned two third place finishes. In 2013 she anchored the defense for her ECNL club that was ranked No. 8 by TopDrawerSoccer. Off the field, Robinson served as the photography editor of the yearbook staff. She plans to major in pre-health.


Caitlyn Scott (D, 5'5", Wasginton, N.C.): Scott joins Wofford after starting for both Washington High School and Newbern Area Soccer Association. With her club, Scott helped her team win two Explosion Cup Championships while also making the CASL shootout finals and Kemper Presidents Cup State finals. At Washington High, Scott was a three-year letter winner, making the state finals in 2012 and 2014. In her 2014 campaign, she earned an All-Conference nod with 20 goals and 11 assists. She is an outstanding student, boasting a 4.6 GPA in the Top 10 percent of her graduating class, while also serving as a member of the National Honor Society and volunteering with Young Life and the Boys and Girls Club. She plans to major in business or pre-law.
 
Rachel Shinnick (MF/D, 5'6", Hillsborough, N.C.) Shinnick joins Wofford after playing for Orange Hill High School and CASL Elite. With Orange Hill, Shinnick was a four-year starter, being named the team's Offensive MVP in 2013 and 2012. Shinnick also received All-Conference nods from 2012-2014 and was named to the All-Region team in the 2013 and 2014 seasons. She was captain of the team in 2014. She was also a four-year starter on the CASL Elite, earning a second place finish in the Premier League in 2014. The same year the team was finalists in the Disney Showcase and Jefferson Cup Champions. Off the field, Shinnick boasts an impressive collection of accomplishments, including Beta Club President, National Spanish Honor Society President, and Wofford Scholar distinction. She plans to major in biology or chemistry.
 
Catie Slater (F, 5'2", Newport News, Va.) Slater comes to Wofford after starting for four years at the Hampton Roads Academy in Newport News, Virginia. Slater, a three-season team captain (2013-15), racked up 29 goals and 29 assists in the past three seasons at HRA. Slater also earned team MVP honors in 2013 and 2014, was named Second-Team All-TCIS in 2013, First Team All-TCIS and Second Team All-VISSA in 2014.  Slater was also a member of Virginia's ODP squad from 2009-2013. Slater also had a successful club career with Beach FC '96. Most recently, the team were Sun Cup champions and were smeifinalists in the Jefferson Cup and Disney Showcase. Off the field, Slater earned honor roll distinctions and volunteered her time with a number of different organizations. She is still undecided on a major.
 
Kendall Stanley (D, 5'7", Milton, Mass.): Stanley joins the Terriers after competing at Milton High School and the NEFC Elite club. In 2013, Stanley led Milton High to its first tournament berth in nine years, with six goals and six assists. Stanley helped her club team to a Region 1 League Championship (2013) and Massachusetts State Championship (2014). She was a four-year letter winner in soccer at Milton and a three-time Baystate League All-Star selection. She also earned Eastern Massachusetts All-Star and Patriot Ledger All-Scholastic distinctions. Stanley also lettered in basketball for three years. Off the field, Stanley earned plenty of academic awards, including Honor Roll, and the Milton High Honors Scholastic Might Book Award. She also attended Massachusetts Girl's State. She is still undecided on a major.
 
Rachel Thornton (MF/F, 5'7", Pawleys Island, S.C.): Thornton joins Wofford after four years as a starter at Waccamaw, helping lead her team to three regional championships. Her freshman year she was an All-Region selection. Her sophomore year, she repeated as an All-Region selection and earned All-State honors. Thornton led her team in scoring her freshman and sophomore year as well as leading in assists. Off the field, Thornton was president of the Young Republican Club and a member of the Key Club. She plans to major in pre-law.
 
Hayley Younginer (MF, 5'8", Irmo, S.C.): Younginger joins Wofford after four impressive seasons at Dutch Fork High School. She helped the team reach second in the region (2012), region co-champions (2013), and a region championship while finishing third in the state (2014). She was named to the NSCAA All-South Team, All-State Team, All-Region Team, the Taco Bell Cup All-Tournament Team and the Lexington County Chronicle All-Region Team. She led the team in goals scored, assists and total points during the 2014 seasons. She also played for SC United FC '96 Elite club, leading the team to a State Cup Championship, Disney Soccer Showcase Championship and Jefferson Cup Championship. Younginer also was named co-captain and Coaches' Player of the Year for her club. Off the field, Younginer was a member of the National Honor Society and the Beta Club. She plans to major in business.
