Spartanburg, S.C. – The Wofford women's soccer team fell 2-0 at Samford on Friday night. The bulldogs scored twice in the second half and held on to shutout the Terriers. With the loss Wofford falls to 7-9-1 overall and 2-5-1 in the Southern Conference.
Samford, one of two undefeated teams in SoCon play got the scoring started in the 17
th minute when Jermaine Seoposenwe linked up with Ella Baggett who headed in a cross to take the lead.
With just seven minutes remaining in the first half the Bulldogs struck again. Caroline Orman scored the insurance goal when Leigh Hanes hit the post from just over 25 yards out and the rebound was finished by Orman to send the match into the half 2-0.
Wofford threatened early in the second half but a big save from the Samford keeper kept Wofford off the board. The Bulldogs then took control of the possession and iced the game to secure the 2-0 win.
Despite the loss, the Terriers totaled nine shots and three corner kicks and
Alex Carroll made seven stops in the match.
Wofford returns to the pitch on Sunday, when the Terriers travel to Chattanooga to square off against the mocs.
