Wofford vs. Samford Box Score
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women’s basketball team fell 65-43 to Samford in Southern Conference action on Saturday.
The Terriers put the first points on the board with a jumper from April Moorhouse, but Samford responded with a pair of three-pointers. The Bulldogs extended their lead to 11 points at the 13:44 mark before the Terriers responded with two straight layups to cut the lead to seven. Samford regained a double-digit lead at the 10:21 mark off a layup from J’Quita Babineaux.
Wofford would cut into the double-digit lead several times before the end of the half, but could not put together an offensive run, allowing the Bulldogs to head into halftime with a 38-23 lead.
The Terriers struggled at the beginning of the second half, going scoreless for the first nine minutes while the Bulldogs went on a nine point run, bringing the score to 47-25. A three-pointer from Mariah Masalin broke the dry spell for Wofford, but Samford quickly pushed its advantage to as many as 25 points before claiming a 65-43 victory.
Junior Emily London led the Bulldogs with 15 points, while redshirt sophomore Alex Crow notched a career-high 12. Megan Wilderotter paced the team with six rebounds and Savannah Hill added eight assists in the win.
Wofford was led by sophomore April Moorhouse and junior Mahagony Williams, who each scored eight points. Williams, freshman Rachel Brittenham and freshman Domi Gergely each grabbed nine rebounds for the Terriers.
With the win, Samford improves to 14-6 on the season and 8-3 in Southern Conference play while Wofford falls to 3-14 overall and 2-8 in league contests. The Terriers will next host Chattanooga on Monday, January 25 at 4:00 p.m. in Benjamin Johnson Arena.
