Men’s Soccer Suffers 4-0 Loss to UNC Greensboro Saturday Night

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford men’s soccer team fell to UNC Greensboro by a 4-0 score Saturday night at Snyder Field.  The loss drops the Terriers to 4-8-1 overall and 0-4-0 in Southern Conference play.

The Spartans got on the board first in the 14th minute when Austin Miller drove the ball up the left side of the field, crossing the ball to Brian Graham to the right side of the 18-yard box, where Graham sends a shot past the reach of Wofford keeper Ben Limbaugh.

UNCG scored once more in the first half, as Austin Miller headed the ball into the net from six yards out following a crossing pass from Oddur Gudmundsson in the 25th minute.

Miller scored once again in the 77th minute of play, taking a shot from eight yards out, placing the ball into the upper left corner of the goal, out of the reach of Wofford keeper Andrew Drennan, who played the second half in goal.

The final goal of the evening for UNCG took place in the 80th minute when Hakan Ilhan collected the rebound of a shot by Brian Graham that deflected off the right goalpost, putting the ball into the top left corner.

The Terriers had a handful of scoring opportunities throughout the match, as Forrest Lasso, Chase West, and Alex Hutchins each had shots on goal, but were unable to send the ball past UNCG keeper Peyton Ford.

Wofford will return to action this Tuesday evening, stepping out of SoCon play to host #20 Coastal Carolina.  The match is slated for a 6:00 p.m. start time at Snyder Field.
