GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Wofford volleyball team fell in four sets on the road to UNCG (17-25, 25-19, 18-25, 14-25) Friday night in Southern Conference action at Fleming Gymnasium.

Every set was fairly one sided. Wofford hit .324 in the second for its lone victory, but it was the only time the Terriers threatened. The Spartans hit .353 to run away the first, came out on a 10-4 run to start the third and scored five straight points to break open the fourth.

The loss dropped Wofford (11-12, 3-4) below .500 on the season and in Southern Conference play. The Terriers sit in seventh in the SoCon standings, just a half-game behind both Mercer (4-4) and Samford (3-3).

"We weren't able to execute our game plan well because UNCG did a nice job of attacking our serve receive," said head coach
Lynze Roos. "I thought
Lauren Miller stepped up and had some great kills.
Danni Densford was also able to be effective when we were in system."

Miller posted a team-high 12 kills, her most in a match in nearly a month. The redshirt freshman right side hit .219 and was a key part to Wofford's second-set victory, posting four kills on eight swings and going for three blocks in the frame. She ended the match with a team-high four blocks.

Densford and
Alex Holland registered nine kills apiece. Densford hit .286 with three blocks, while Holland hit .192 with two blocks.

Wofford was outhit .281 to .113 on the evening. The Spartans posted a higher hitting percentage in all three of the sets they won, putting together their best performance in the fourth set of .385.

UNCG was better in nearly every category. The Spartans recorded 55 kills to Wofford's 43, 65 digs to Wofford's 53 and out-blocked the Terriers 9-6.

UNCG"s Ashley Muench, Jessica Brezwyn and Jasmine Jones all reached double figures in the kill column. Muench tallied a match-high 15 kills. Brezwyn and Jones were extremely efficient – Brezwyn hit .364 with 14 kills and Jones hit a match-high .455 with 12 kills.

Senior libero Katherine Santiago scooped a match-high 25 digs on her home floor. Allison Penner and Christina Gregory each had 10, with Penner's notching a double-double thanks to her match-high 45 assists.

The Terriers get an opportunity to bring their record back to .500 on Saturday, closing out a five-match road swing in Johnson City, Tenn., against ETSU (14-5, 6-1 SoCon). The match is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Lauren Miller posted 12 kills. It was her most in a match since Sep. 18 when she went for a career-high 20 against East Carolina.
