CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The sixth-seeded Wofford volleyball team suffered its third four-set loss of the season to third-seeded UNCG (25-15, 20-25, 21-25, 13-25), exiting the 2015 Southern Conference Tournament in the quarterfinals, Saturday night at the Ramsey Center.
Wofford won the first set handily, but could not find a way to get over the hump. After UNCG tied the match by winning the second set, Wofford led the third 11-5 and seemed to be on its way to retaking the lead.
The Spartans rallied. They scored the next five points and closed a 14-3 run with a 19-14 lead. Wofford never led at any point in any set the rest of the match, dropping the third set before falling in four.
