WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The women's basketball team played a strong first period against the William & Mary Tribe before waning down the stretch, falling 75-55 Thursday night at Kaplan Arena.

The Terriers (1-7) shot 46 percent in the first period and battled the Tribe (6-1) to a 19-19 even score at the end of the period. Wofford led in the period by as many as four after guard
Chloe Wanink hit a jumper on the wing to make it 17-13 Terriers with 1:52 left in the period. Wanink and guard
Ashton Fleming each had four points in the period.

Jordan Frazier started off the second period for the Terriers with a layup 20 seconds into the period. The Tribe tied the game then took the lead after forward Alexandra Masaquel hit two free throws and a layup on back-to-back possessions.

William & Mary then went on a 8-0 run to extend their lead to double-digits before Terrier guard
Maria Corella hit one of her two threes in the game to stop the run. The Tribe however kept a strong pace in the period and led at halftime 42-29.

The Tribe started the second half on a 8-1 run to put their lead up to as many as 20 points, eventually pushing their lead to 23 by the end of the third period. Wofford outscored the Tribe 16-13 in the final period however, holding William & Mary to just two field goals over the first five minutes of the fourth period.

Masaquel led the Tribe offensively with 18 points on 8-11 shooting. She also had 10 rebounds to record a double-double. Guards Bianca Boggs and Marlena Tremba each had 13 points and forward Abby Rendle chipped in 11 points as well.

Wanink, Fleming and Corella each finished with nine points to lead the Terriers offensively. Guard
Amoshia Blakeney had eight points and hit 2-3 three pointers as well. Forward
Grayson Pinholster led the Terriers with a season-high six rebounds.

William & Mary outscored the Terriers in the paint 40-18 and outrebounded the Terriers 40-34. The Terriers also were forced into 26 turnovers compared to the Tribe's 12, resulting in 27 points for William & Mary off Wofford turnovers.

The Terrier bench did outscore the Tribe bench 33-26.

The loss extends Wofford's losing streak on the road to seven games dating back to last season. The Tribe now own a 2-0 series advantage over the Terriers as well.

Wofford has an extended break before their next game on December 13. The Terriers face Bluefield College (Va.) at home that day, with tip-off set for 2 p.m.
