SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford volleyball team fell to Furman 3-1 on Wednesday night in Benjamin Johnson Arena. Wofford took the opening set 25-19 but Furman won the next three 26-24, 25-23 and 25-18 to clinch the match. With the loss, Wofford falls to 12-11 on the season and 5-4 in conference play and Furman improves to 9-12 and 5-4 in Southern Conference play. 

The match included 17 ties and 10 lead changes as the teams swapped points throughout the night. Furman hit .264 on the night, highlighted by the performance of Jamila Johnson and Annie Bierman as both finished with 15 kills apiece. Wofford hit .250 as a team. Serving played a part in the momentum of the match as Wofford had 11 service errors and five receiving errors while Furman only had six service errors and two receiving errors. 

Four Wofford players finished with double digit kills. Catie Cronister finished with a double-double as the freshman tallied 16 kills (.333) and 10 digs. Colleen Reilly had 11 kills (.333) and Kara Shacklette and Alex Holland both finished with 10 kills apiece. Shacklette hit .304 in the match and Holland hit .600 with only one error on 15 attempts. 

Starting setter Lorissa King contributed 30 assists and M.E. Eberhardt added 21. Bijonae Jones (11), Cronister (10), and libero Madeline Savage (10) all finished with double digit digs. 

The Terriers head on the road for the first time since Oct. 8 and face UNCG Friday at 5 p.m. Wofford returns home Saturday, Oct. 22 against Western Carolina at 6 p.m. Wofford defeated the Catamounts 3-0 on Oct. 5.
