LEXINGTON, VA. – The Wofford women's soccer team fell to VMI, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon in Lexington, Va.

VMI scored a goal in each half and held the Terriers scoreless to earn the victory.

In the first half, it did not take the Keydets long to strike first, as they scored in just the 12
th minute. Emma Quirk tallied her second goal on the season.

Despite trailing 1-0 at the half, Wofford did hold a 6-3 advantage in shots attempted and a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.

VMI added a key insurance goal in the 65
th minute, with Juliet Esnardo adding her second of the year. The goal came off a free kick from about 30 yards that Esnardo tipped from just in front of the goal.

The Keydets also stepped up their defensive efforts in the second half, holding the Terriers to just two shot attempts.

Once again,
Elise Fennegan led the Terriers in shot attempts with three.Â
Hannah Washko and
Catie Slater added two each.

Defensively, goalkeeper
Mayson Liner registered three saves on the afternoon, including a diving effort that kept the Terrier deficit at one early in the second half.

Overall, the Terriers outshot the Keydets, 8-6 on the afternoon. Wofford also held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks, but were unable to convert.
