OMAHA, NE – The Wofford women's basketball team fell to Nebraska-Omaha, 89-64, on Sunday afternoon in Omaha.

The Mavericks went on an 18-3 run in the closing minutes of the second quarter and the Terriers could not overcome their 20 point halftime deficit.

Kentra Washington and
Kelsey Lambdin led the Terriers with 13 points each. Washington has scored in double figures in four straight games. With 13 points on 5-6 from the floor, Lambdin matched her career high and set a new season high by scoring in double figures for the first time this season. Freshman guard
Cairo Booker was the only other Terrier in double figures, delivering 11 points and five assists, both career highs.

The Mavericks were led by Mikaela Shaw, who poured in 21 points on 9 of 16 from the field.

The Terriers opened the game strong, playing Omaha close in the first quarter. Wanink and Washington combined to score 14 of the team's 17 first quarter points to keep the Mavericks' lead at just 21-17 after the game's first 10 minutes.

However, Wofford struggled in the second quarter, as Omaha outscored the Terriers, 23-7, in the period. After Wofford scored four straight points to close the gap to 26-21, the Mavericks took a timeout and went on their 18-3 run to build a substantial halftime lead.

Omaha continued to control the pace in the second half, with the Terriers unable to close the gap inside of 20 points. After the Mavericks lengthened their lead in the third quarter, Wofford responded with a strong fourth quarter that saw them outscore Omaha, 23-17.

The Terriers finished with 16 points, compared to 12 turnovers, the third time this year they have had more assists than turnovers. However, the Mavericks owned the glass, outrebounding Wofford, 40-19.
