Horned Frogs Outlast Terriers 72-63

 FORT WORTH, TEXAS – The Wofford men's basketball team fell 72-63 at TCU on Saturday afternoon. Wofford falls to 3-7 with the loss and TCU improves to 9-1 on the season.
 
After scoring a season-high 24 points in a 116-56 rout of UVA Wise on Tuesday, Fletcher Magee had another strong showing and led the Terriers with 18 points. Magee went a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line, taking all but two of Wofford's free throws, and also pulled down six rebounds. Ryan Sawvell recorded his second double-double in four games, finishing with 12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. The redshirt senior went 6-10 from the field in 29 minutes of action. Cameron Jackson finished with nine points and Eric Garcia followed with eight points and six assists.
 
Wofford jumped out to a 7-1 lead and would hold on to a lead until the 8:18 mark in the first half when the Horned Frogs to a 16-13 advantage. TCU stretched the lead to six at 30-24 and would take a 31-26 lead into the half.
 
The Terriers cut the lead to two points (41-39) and then again to three points as the Horned Frogs held on to a 64-61 lead but TCU stretched the lead back to six with a three pointer by Brandon Parrish. Jackson found Sawvell for an easy dunk to cut it back to four but the Horned Frogs held on for the victory.
 
A big difference in the game came at the free throw line where Wofford shot 75% on a 6-8 performance, but TCU went to the line 21 times and made 15 free throws. The two teams finished with nearly identical field goal percentages as TCU finished 42.9% while Wofford shot 41.3%.
 
Kenrich Williams finished with a double-double to lead TCU with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Five Horned Frogs scored in double figures.
 
Wofford has three non-conference matchups remaining before beginning Southern Conference play on Dec. 31. Next up, Wofford hosts Austin Peay Thursday, Dec. 15 in the Benjamin Johnson Arena before heading on the road to face Coastal Carolina on Dec. 19 and Georgia Tech on Dec. 22.
