SPARTANBURG, S.C. – As the team celebrated Senior Day, the Wofford College women's basketball team set a new record for points scored in their Division I era, beating the UNCG Spartans 104-64 Saturday afternoon in Benjamin Johnson Arena.
Â
The Terriers (9-17, 3-9 SoCon) set season-highs in points scored, rebounds (47), field goal percentage (56.7) and free throws made (30-33) in the victory. "Our communication, sharing the basketball, getting great shots, withstanding their runs and then going on runs of our own, I thought it was a phenomenal team effort today," Farmer said.
Â
Three of the four seniors in guards
Chanel Stokes,
Jordan Frazier and
Ashton Fleming started in the game, with the fourth senior, forward
Khadijah Joyner, getting an honorary start despite being sidelined with a knee injury. Fleming led the seniors with 12 points, seven rebounds, and career-highs in steals (5) and assists (4) while going a perfect 4-4 from the field and at the line. Stokes and Frazier each had eight points, with Stokes adding three rebounds and three assists and Frazier contributing two steals, a rebound and an assist.
Â
"The seniors have really done a fantastic job for our program over these four years," Farmer said. "Today was a culmination of that. You could not pick a better way to send out four great people as well as players. They have been doing a lot of great things for this program over the last four seasons, and I'm really happy for all of them to have played their final home game here in Benjamin Johnson Arena and finish out with a win."
Â
