JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Wofford College women's basketball guard
Maria Corella had a good look at a three-pointer to tie Thursday's game at East Tennessee State University on Wofford's final possession, but her shot missed its mark as the Bucs took a 70-69 victory over the Terriers at Brooks Gym.

The Terriers (7-15, 1-7 SoCon) faced a 51-45 deficit to start the final period, but guard
Jordan Frazier's three pointer with :53 seconds left tied the game at 67-67. The Bucaneers (13-10, 5-3 SoCon) drew fouls on their next two possessions and forward Raven Dean made 3-4 free throws to give the Bucs a three-point lead with :16 seconds left.

After a Wofford timeout, the Terriers drew up a play that had Corella swing off a screen behind the three-point line. She fired up a shot from the left wing that grazed the rim however. Forward
Kentra Washington was able to make a putback layup, but time expired as the shot went through the net.

Wofford battled ETSU throughout the game. The Terriers came back from a five-point deficit late in the second period, going on a 7-0 run to close the half with guard
Amoshia Blakeney hitting a jumper in the lane to give Wofford a 29-27 halftime lead.

The Terriers kept the momentum going to start the second half, racing out on a 6-0 run to start the third period and take a 37-29 lead. ETSU however climbed back over the next two minutes to tie the game after guard Tianna Tarter hit a layup with 5:18 in the period.

The Bucs themselves would go on a 9-0 run at the end of the third and beginning the fourth period, eventually stretching their lead to 60-49 with 7:05 left in the game.

Starting with four
Chanel Stokes free throws, the Terriers fought back and held ETSU scoreless over the next minute while cutting the deficit to four points. ETSU maintained a similar margin until Frazier's three that tied the game late.

Washington finished the game with a team-high 17 points to lead the Terriers while recording six rebounds, two assists and a steal. Frazier also finished in double-figures, chipping in 13 points and two rebounds.

ETSU was led by guards Chandler Christopher and Shamauria Bridges. Christopher scored 17 points to go with seven rebounds and four assists, while Bridges added 12 points, five rebounds and two assists. Guard Malloree Schurr had a game-high 10 rebounds to go with nine points as well.

Both teams made 25 field goals in the game, with Wofford shooting 42.4 percent from the floor and ETSU shooting 39.1 percent. The Terriers were slightly outrebounded 42-40 and committed one more turnover (11) than ETSU (10). Wofford did dominate scoring in the paint, outscoring ETSU in the lane 40-26 while also getting 12 points off ETSU turnovers.

The Terriers have now lost six straight road games and 13 straight games overall against ETSU going 2-18 against the Bucs all-time. Wofford lost at home to ETSU earlier this season.

The road trip continues for Wofford this weekend, as the Terriers travel to Chattanooga to face the Mocs at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
