SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford men's soccer team rallied once again in the second half to defeat Gardner-Webb, 2-1, on Friday night at Snyder Field.
Despite falling behind early in the first half, the Terriers responded with
Matthew Aurednik's first goal of the season in the 47
th minute. Then, with just under seven minutes to play in regulation,
Kyle Nelson found the back of the net off of a
Lucas Altman corner kick to give Wofford the game winner.
"It really gives us confidence, because we found a way to win," Coach Polson said. "I was amazed at how quickly we responded in the second half. Once we got that goal, it helped settle us down a little bit."
For the second time in three games, Wofford fell behind early, as the Bulldogs' Marvin Mendy scored on a breakaway off of a turnover to put the Terriers down a goal in just the seventh minute. Overall, Gardner-Webb outshot Wofford. 7-5, in the first half.
However, the Terriers responded quickly, as Aurednik's 47

After equalizing, Wofford began to take control of the game, dominating possession for most of the second half. Although they created numerous scoring chances, they could not break through until Nelson found the back of the net off Altman's corner to break the 1-1 tie in the 83
