CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Wofford volleyball team defeated The Citadel 3-1 in the first of four consecutive road matches for
Lynze Roos' team. The Terriers fell in the opening set 28-26 but rallied back to win the next three sets by scores of 25-15, 25-21, 25-21, respectively, to clinch the match. With the win, Wofford moves to 9-8 overall and 2-1 in Southern Conference play while the Bulldogs fall to 6-12 and 0-3 in the SoCon.
Freshman
Catie Cronister led the Terrier offensive attack for the second consecutive match. The outsider hitter, one of four Wofford players with double digit kills, contributed 20 kills on the night.
Alex Holland (14),
Colleen Reilly (13) and
Bijonae Jones (12) helped even out the production as all three hit atleast .278 in the win.
Freshman
Lorissa King led the team with 30 kills and classmate
M.E. Eberhardt added 27.
Madeline Savage (17) and
Bijonae Jones (14) paced the defense with double digit kills. The Terriers hit atleast .256 in every set while holding the Bulldogs attack at bay.
Wofford returns to action Wednesday, Oct. 5 at Western Carolina. The Terriers' next home match is October 11 against S.C. State.
