DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Wofford women's tennis team fell at Davidson, 7-0, on Sunday afternoon in Davidson, N.C.
After prevailing in its season opener at USC Upstate on Jan. 19, the Terriers loss to the Wildcats drops them to 1-1 on the season.
Wofford's
Catherine Martin and
Lauren Reid won their doubles match, 6-3, before Davidson was able to win the third and deciding doubles match, 7-6 (5), to earn the doubles point and carry momentum into singles play.
In singles, the Terriers'
Cassidy Hicks and Reid each took their matches to a third set, but Davidson took the third set in both to keep Wofford off the board.
Alexandra Abele, playing in the #4 position, clinched the match for the Wildcats with her 6-3, 4-6, 6-0 win over Reid.
Up next, the Terriers return home to host their first match of the year this Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 2 p.m.
