SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women's tennis team cruised to a 6-1 victory over North Carolina A&T on Tuesday afternoon at Reeves Tennis Center.

"I knew that they would come out with great energy," head coach
Krissy Hall said. "I knew that they would play for each other, so I was happy how they took care of business."
In the team's first home match of 2017, the Terriers claimed the first point of the match by winning the first two doubles matches.

First,
Catherine Martin and
Lauren Reid won, 6-2, in the no. 2 position. A few minutes later,
Cassidy Hicks and
Kalli Karas won, 6-4, to clinch the doubles point for Wofford.

In singles competition, the team continued its strong play. Hicks won her match first, taking care of the Aggies Renata Ruiz Rabadan, 6-0, 6-2. Shortly after,
Kalli Karas won, 6-1, 6-1, in the no. 3 spot, before
Lauren Reid clinched the match for the Terriers with a 6-4, 6-1, playing at no. 4.

With the match already clinched,
Taylor Carlson responded after dropping the first set, winning her match, 6-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-5). Sophomore
Curran Carver also won at no. 6, defeating Klara Smolikova, 6-1, 6-3.

The win improves the Terriers to 2-1 on the season.

Up next, the team will travel to Florida to play Bethune-Cookman this Thursday, Jan. 26 at 1:30 p.m., before taking on Florida A&M on Sunday, Jan. 29 at 10:00 a.m.
