SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford men's basketball team ended UNCG's six game winning streak with an emphatic 93-74 victory inside Benjamin Johnson Arena on Wednesday night. Â
"I'm so proud of my team," said head coach
Mike Young. "They have good players, but our team was terrific tonight. We were ready to play. That's a great win and this was a great night. We needed this one to get back in the fight. This thing (SoCon play) is going to be a lot of fun and I'm excited to be a part of it. There's a lot to shake out, but tonight was a step in the right direction. We have all our goals in front of us. "
Â
Five players finished in double figures for Wofford with four players scoring atleast 16 points.
Eric Garcia led the way with 20 points thanks largely in part to a perfect 12-12 performance from the free throw line. Garcia is shooting 94.3% on the season from the charity stripe. Sixteen of Garcia's points and all 12 free throws came in the second half of play. The senior also dished out 12 assists, a career high, and allowed zero turnovers. Â
"I truly believe he's the best point guard in the league," said Young. "He's an all-timer. It's every game and every night. You have no idea how much time he spends working on his game, taking care of his body and studying film."
Â
Fletcher Magee followed closely behind with 19 points on 7-10 from the field and 5-8 from beyond the arc. Magee has scored in double figures in all 20 games this season. After scoring one point and bringing in just one rebound in Sunday's loss at ETSU,
Ryan Sawvell rebounded to finish with 18 points and a game high nine rebounds.
Â
"It was nice to see Ryan play well tonight," said Young. "He was phenomenal. He was banging shots, active, and alert. It pains him when he plays poorly but he was back to being Ryan tonight and he was a big part of this win. Eighteen (points) and nine (rebounds) will help you win a lot of games."

Nathan Hoover added eight points and five assists.
