GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Wofford volleyball team fell 0-3 at Furman on Wednesday night in Alley Gym. Furman took both the first and second sets 25-17 and won the third set 25-22. With the loss, Wofford falls to 15-8 on the season and 5-4 in Southern Conference play, while Furman moves to 15-7 overall and 9-0 in conference action.

Riley Coonan it .429 in the match and had eight kills with just two errors on 14 swings. She added a solo block and a block assist.
Catie Cronister had 10 kills and six digs.
Kelly Bossert recorded eight kills and hit .267.

Lorissa King dished out 20 assists and
Kristen Seibert added 12. Libero
Taylor Gill tallied a match high 23 digs.

Wofford hit .151 in the match and Furman hit .286. The match included 16 ties and six lead changes. Thirteen Terriers saw action.

In the opening set, teams swapped points until Furman used a 4-1 run to take a 15-11 lead. Furman held on to its lead and stretched it to 20-14 and the Terriers took their second timeout of the set. The timeout wasn't enough to stifle Furman and the Paladins used a 5-3 run to win the set and take the lead.

The second set started out much the same. The teams traded the first few points but Furman began to pull away and Wofford used a timeout with the Paladins up 9-4. Furman wouldn't trail again in the set. Wofford used another timeout trailing 13-18 but Furman won the next three points to extend the lead to 21-13 and their 4-4 run was enough to seal the second set win and put the Paladins up 2-1 at the break.Â

Tonight's match was the first of three for Wofford this week. The Terriers host Samford on Friday, Oct. 20 at 5 p.m. and conclude the home portion of the season on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 6 p.m. The match will be senior night as the Terriers honor

The third set was closely contested until the end. Wofford took an early lead at 2-1. Neither team led by more than a point until Furman went up 13-11 and stretched it to 16-11 as part of a 5-0 run. The Terriers pulled within one at 19-18 an again at 23-22 but Furman won the final two points to win the set 25-22.Â
