GREENSBORO, N.C. –
Catie Cronister recorded a career high 31 kills, but the Wofford volleyball team fell in a tough five set match at UNCG Saturday night. With the loss, Wofford falls to 18-10 on the season and 8-6 in Southern Conference action, while UNCG improves to 16-10 and 9-5 in conference play. After a Friday night win over top place Furman and tonight's win, UNCG takes over sole possession of third place in the conference standings while Wofford moves into fourth.

Wofford won the first set 25-19, but UNCG responded to win the second set 25-21. The teams again traded sets. Wofford won the third 25-23 to take a 2-1 lead but the Spartans won the fourth set 25-22. The fifth set was back and forth, just as the entire match was, but UNCG won 17-15 to clinch the win. In total, the match saw 31 ties and 11 lead changes.

Cronister's 31 kills bested any other player in the match by 17 kills. The SoCon Offensive Player of the Month for October has double digit kills in 25 of Wofford's 28 matches, 20+ kills in 10 matches and now 30+ kills in two matches. Her previous season and career high of 30 came in Wofford's five set win over UNCG on October 6.

The sophomore from Chicago also netted 20 digs to earn her fourth consecutive double-double and 11
th of the season. Cronister, who entered the week fifth in the country in service aces, also added three aces from the service line. She had 68 attack attempts, also a career high, and hit .338 in the contest.

Colleen Reilly hit .417 and finished with 12 kills and four blocks.
Bijonae Jones earned her third consecutive double-double and sixth on the year as the junior tallied 10 kills and 11 digs.
Kara Shacklette had nine kills and hit a team high .444.

Lorissa King was the third Terrier of the night to record a double-double. The sophomore setter finished with 60 assists, just two shy of her career high, and added 13 digs. The double-double is her fourth overall and third in the last four matches. Libero Taylor Gill led Wofford with 27 digs.

The Terriers outhit the Spartans .254 to .251 and won the blocking battle 9-7.

Wofford concludes the regular season next weekend. The Terriers play at Chattanooga on Nov. 10 and finish at ETSU on Nov. 11. The Southern Conference tournament is set for Nov, 17-19 in Cullowhee, N.C.Â
