Women's Basketball Falls at Gardner-Webb

 
Boiling Springs, N.C. – The Wofford women's basketball team lost 73-55 at Gardner-Webb on Tuesday evening. Gardner-Webb used a 16-8 run early in the second quarter to erase the Terriers chances in the game. The loss moves Wofford to 4-4 on the season as Gardner-Webb improves to 6-2.
 
The Terriers and Bulldogs played a back and forth first quarter with both teams struggling to find the bottom of the net. Although Gardner-Webb opened a six point lead with just over one minute to play the Terriers went on a 6-0 run to cut the lead to 15-13 at the end of one quarter. Jamari McDavid led Wofford in the first quarter with six points and one offensive rebound.
 
Gardner Webb opened the second quarter with a 16-8 run over the first six minutes as the Bulldogs shot 6-10 (60%) from the floor and 4-7 (57%) from three during the stretch. Wofford's shooting woes continued as the Terriers shot 5-15 (33%) in the quarter, allowing the Bulldogs to stretch the halftime lead to 10, 35-25.
 
It was more of the same after the break as Wofford continued to struggle from the floor. The Bulldogs extended the lead out to 14 after holding the Terriers to 6-23 (26%) from the field. At the end of three quarters, Gardner-Webb had three players in double figures as the Bulldogs led, 53-39. Gardner-Webb continued the hot shooting in the fourth quarter going 8-18 (44%) from the field en route to a 73-55 victory.
 
Despite the loss, Wofford performed well on the glass grabbing 12 offensive rebounds and converting eight second chance points. The Terriers were led by Cairo Booker, who finished with 19 points, nine rebounds and two assists. Da'Ja Green added 10 points, five rebounds and four assists while Jamari McDavid and Emily Ryan both finished with 8 points.
 
Wofford will return to the court on Saturday, December 9 when the Terriers travel to Rock Hill to face off against Winthrop at 2 PM
